We have noted in Media manipulated information being disseminated, that:

Wrong information : Imam Husain was killed in Karbala because he has claimed the throne.

Correction :Truth is Yazid had asked oath of loyalty from Imam Husain which Imam Husain did not accept. Many tribes came to join Imam Husain against Yazid but he politely informed them about dangers of supporting him and permitted them to leave him. Most the persons who came to support him left him after knowing the dangers and permission to leave from Imam Husain. 

Wrong information : Sunni Muslims Considers Yazid as Caliph or  sided with Yazid  against Imam Husain (A.S.). This is a worst example of manipulated half truth.

Correction :The fact is majority of Sunnis consider Yazid as despot and not as caliph. Such as Noted Sunni Scholar and translator of Quran in English Late Yusuf Ali has mentioned in his tafseer that Yazid as despot and Imam Husain, his elder brother Imam Hasan and Hazrat Hamza uncle of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH&HF) as example of martyrs. The universally accepted Hadees is Hasan (A.S.) and Husain (A.S.) the grand sons of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH&HF) are the Chief of the youths of Paradise.

Praise of Imam Husain by Sunni religious personalities, scholars, poets and writers.

It may also be noted that both Shia and Sunnis praise Imam Husain but it is widely believed that best praise of Imam Husain comes from Sunni religious personalities, scholars, poets and writers.

Allama Iqbal world renowned Sunni Muslim Scholar Thinker and Poet also praised Imam Husain which is considered better than praise by Shia's.

Among Sunnis it is normal to keep name as Husain or his elder brother Hasan or their father Ali.

Some examples of renowned Sunni Muslims with name of Husain or Hasan or Ali are as below.

1. First Muslim President of India Late Dr. Zakir Husain (means orator of Husain).

2. Second Muslim President of India Late Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad

3. Previous Prime Minister of Pakistan Choudhry Shujaat Husain.

4. Late King of Jordan King Husain previously Crown Prince was Prince Hasan of Jordan.

5. Late King Hasan of Morocco

6. Ali Al- Naimi, Oil Minister of Saudi Arabia.

7. Saddam Husain, anti Shia, ex-President of Iraq his two sons Udai Husain and Qusai Husain, his sons in law Kamil Husain etc.

Most of Sunni Muslims consider world Yazid as word of abuse if you call them Yazid then they will be very angry. No one keeps name Yazid except those who are anti Prophet.

Note: There is one before Christ old religion called Yazidi, they have nothing to do with despot Yazid whose army has killed grandson of Prophet Muhammad in Karbala, Iraq.
